TANZANET

Welcome to the website of the TANZANET - The Tanzanian Electronic Networking Community.

Here you can find information about the organisation and current projects.
  • The TANZANET eCommunity Center: Tanzanet is a Cyber Community of Tanzanians all over the world, and this is their Homepage.
  • The TANZANET Consultants Database is a platform where you can find resource persons, and professionals who are either Tanzanians or have working/research experience on Tanzanian practical issues. The database covers most areas of professional skills, from Social sciences, Natural Sciences to Engineering sciences.
In this Database you will be able to find professionals who may serve as consultants, co-authors, mentors, or professional partners on different issues.
  • The keyword searchable TANZANET Publications Database is a project aimed at making available bibliographic information of theses, dissertations, journal articles, historical documents, program transcripts, etc. that have significant research carried out on or in Tanzania.
  • The TANZANET Journal was established to promote interdisciplinary research on Tanzania, with particular interest in information technology issues that impact the East African nation. Similar to other scholarly journals, our goal is to promote dialogue among Tanzanians, and other scholars of Tanzania, in a way that furthers theoretical debates while remaining relevant to the needs of the Tanzanian people.
  • Books for Tanzania Project: After many such discussions regarding the state of education in Tanzania, some members of Tanzanet proposed in 1997 that Tanzanet set aside some money for a Project to send books and journals to Tanzania, as a way of doing something about these problems. It was also argued that doing so would show an example of self-reliance, that Tanzanians themselves could assume the roles that for a long time have been assigned to foreign donors.

  • TANZANET-KANDORO PRIZE : The Tanzanet-Kandoro Prize is awarded annually according to the rules and stipulations established by the Tanzanet Organization. The award is presented to a member or non-Tanzanet member whose contributions to the advancement of literature in Tanzania and abroad is considered outstanding. Those considered for this award will have done outstanding writings in Kiswahili or English in the area that provoke creative thinking.
